RAMP Mentoring Positions

RAMP Mentors are paid $18.00/hr (as of Aug 1, 2023) and work up to 10 hours per week. Upon successful completion of Spring 2024 Mentor Education (which is paid time - up to 18 hours!). First Year mentors are assigned a caseload of 2024-2025 first-time freshmen with whom the mentors work and support during the first year transition to Humboldt. College Based mentors are assigned to one of the academic colleges to which they are majoring, College of Professional Studies, College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and College of Natural Resources and Sciences, and support second year and transfer students within those colleges. Mentors are actively supported and guided by the RAMP professional staff (RAMP Director and RAMP Coordinators), as well as RAMP Lead Mentors who worked as mentors the previous year.

First Year Pathway:

Minimum Qualifications: Currently enrolled full-time at Humboldt as an undergraduate student and have earned at least 12 units at Humboldt. Applicants must be able to commit to the full 2024-2025 academic year and be able to attend all mentor education sessions. Applicants must have: 1) a sincere commitment to serve as an honest, humble, and “real model” for students new to the college experience, 2) be in good academic standing at the time of application and during employment, and 3) a commitment to uphold the RAMP Statement of Purpose.

Preferred Qualifications: RAMP seeks to employ students with strong leadership skills, who are dependable, able to work independently, and possess a minimum semester & cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher and/or are in good academic standing at the time of application. Students who can apply their own lived experiences to helping students demonstrate a basic understanding of university policies and the resources that Humboldt has to offer, and who possess strong communication and time management skills, are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

College Based Pathway:

Minimum Qualifications: Currently enrolled full-time at Humboldt as an undergraduate student. Applicants must be able to commit to the full 2024-2025 academic year and be able to attend all mentor education sessions. By May 31, 2024, applicants must: 1) have earned at least 30 units at Humboldt (this does not apply to transfer students), 2) be in good academic standing at the time of application and during employment, and 3) have a commitment to uphold the RAMP Statement of Purpose.

Preferred Qualifications: RAMP seeks to employ students with strong leadership skills, who are dependable, able to work independently, and possess a minimum semester & cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher and/or are in good academic standing at the time of application. Students who can apply their own lived experiences to helping students demonstrate a basic understanding of university policies and the resources that Humboldt has to offer, and who possess strong communication and time management skills, are strongly encouraged to apply.
